well, if ever there was a painting that took more unexpected turns for me... this has to be swerviest ride i have ever had... still not sure what to make of it, all i know is that i had to jump off this last time it slowed down enough for me to hop off... better to get of now then decide to jump once it is careening downhill and totally out of control.
i will spare you the WHOLE story... but basically, and went and took a most captivating photo the other day. and when i saw it knew i had to do something with it... what you see before you is not what i saw... all that was way before things got just a little crazy around here...
i can pass a little bit of the blame here even though it will all come back to me any how.... but you see, i had ordered some really cool art supplies from Daniel Smith [link] and when they showed up about the time i had just gotten started on this piece... well, my advice to any of you is don't experiment with new materials and supplies midway through a painting..... the materials will in fact take over... eek...
well, after being whipped around the studio several times by this one, i finally got a good foot hold, tied myself to the easel and proceeded to do battle. i think i finally took some sort of control...
i can't say this is a success or a failure at all.. i am still a little scuffed up, bruised and a little bit dizzy yet. it was an interest ride to be sure.... thanks to Richard and Joy.. i think you two got the best of me this time... but i will live to have another go on another day...
all in a days work... most of the people i know don't consider what i do work.... but then... lol.. well it is work, but can i really say i have a job?
Haha. I love the description. Lost the battle, eh? I don't know if I would say that. I really like this style. It doesn't look finished, but I think I like it this way. ;D
This is a departure from your style in that you've placed the figure in the context of a landscape. Most of your figures have abstract backgrounds, or ocassionally with a floor, outlet, rug, or chair -- but seldom "on location."

not finished? well yeah like i said. i jumped off while the jumping was good. so there it sits... there is some life to this way any how..
and as far as battling... i didn't mean to sound like i was doing battle you and Richard... if i was it would not be cool, i never want to feel that between myself and the model... but sometimes it is a battle with the painting...
i am glad you like it this way... we will have to see what happens now... i mean, this is what makes it fun. don't you think?
i will hesitate from calling it a trainwreck, because i think i saved it from that... it just was a very headstrong painting.... i was maybe just not man enough for it.
awww, well at least i get good marks for the description... hehehe. thanks Joy, will be back to do battle with you again... be sure of that. thanks a lot...
at least i was smiling the whole time... your work does make me do that
